Final Report
2011 has brought new life and a big change to the Old Vine Festival, with the festival moving location to the beautiful Yarra Ranges Estate in Monbulk. The Yarra Ranges Grape Stomping and Old Vine Cultural Festival 2011 was held with great success and revelry despite some cool Melbourne weather on Sunday, the 3rd of April, 2011.
The events were kicked of at around noon, with Vinko Rizmal officially opening the event with a warm welcome. Cr Len Cox, the Deputy Mayor of the Shire of Yarra Ranges, and Cr Noel Cliff, representative of the Shire of Yarra Ranges, both remarked on the wonderful success of the festival and on their pride for being involved in the wonderful venture. A number of messages of goodwill from the Mayor of Maribor in Slovenia and Radio Maribor were also passed on to the public, as well as an official message from charge d’affairs Dr Zvone Zigon from the Embassy of Slovenia in Canberra. The opening ceremony closed with a warm welcome from Anton Kirchmair of Yarra Ranges Estate, and with that the music and dancing began!
The celebration proved to be a winner attraction, attracting over 300 adults and countless children, who revelled and enjoyed the festive proceedings, which included grape stomping, a great musical program, dancing, fabulous food and of course wine.
